I have to buy new hadrware for small mail server. My server room pretty hot. That's why I want buy as cold and energy efficient hardware as possible, but without slowing the process. I have no rack. And I hate desktop cases at all. I prefer Micro-ITX Smile

I have: 6-12 active IMAP clients. Each mailbox's size larger than 5 Gb. (15000+ emails per mailbox). Every month size become larger and larger Sad pdf from scanners etc...

What's the real needs of Kerio Connect server for serving IMAP clients? RAM/CPU/SSD/...?

All depends on your budget. You could get a small tower case and put some 2.5" drives in it and have a nice raid array to store your Kerio on.

My budget is up to $1000. It can be 1) Xeon 1230-V2 with 16Gb, couple of hdds and 2) small power less system (micro-itx, 16Gb, very cold cpu). The main question - how to calculate my needs in hardware. For example, I can save $200 or $300 but in three month I will have leak of power.

The requirements are not that high...

Our mailserver (nearly 60 Users) only needs 1.5 GB RAM averagely, two HDDs SATA3 (Raid 10) and a Intel Xeon i3-3220 (3.3GHz) CPU (which is underutilized). Kerio runs on CentOS in an OpenVZ. Some mailboxes are bigger than 10GB (up to 25GB with more than 100.000 mails). I have to say that most of my users are using ActiveSync/EWS to connect to Kerio, but we also have some IMAP users (up to 20). Maybe this will help you to find a good hardware configuration.
