One of my users makes the following claim: "I've had several people tell me that they are getting emails on their phones just fine, but that the same emails are showing up as much as 2 hours later on their desk tops."

Am I correct in believing that nothing server-side could cause this reported symptom? Seems to me that once a message arrives in an account, then that message would be immediately accessible by any properly configured client, regardless of platform. Meaning, I need to look into how the clients in question are configured.

Are there any known server-side possibilities I should consider?

Thanks for any suggestions.

If users received messages to mobile devices, the messages are already in their Inboxes and there is no reason why messages should not be synchronized from server to desktop clients.

Check interval of synchronization in clients, error/warning logs, enable debug log (user authentication, protocols used by clients), if they use same mail clients...

I think you are correct in your believing. it must be a client misconfig, however it'd be interesting to know which client and how it's been set up.

Thanks for confirming, I'll resolve it with the end user in the week ahead, will report back here if I learn anything of potential value.

Not sure if you are referring to windows based Outlook clients

I have seen similar problems which in our case turned out to be where Outlook is not refreshing

A click from Inbox to sent and back and all the email suddenly becomes visible.

In my case I cleared the cache or re did the profile and it seems to fix the issue.

Seems worse on Outlook 2007 but have seen in 2010.

Hope that's of some use.
