Hi there,

i'm trying to set up a Kerio Connect 8.2 to work with Strato mail provider.
For each mailbox at strato i have a seperate user (username/password).

The kerio connect admin interface allows only one username/password for the relay host authentication.

Is it possible to set multiple login accounts depending on the user sending a mail?

If you have the mailboxes already setup at your mail provider's mail server, it makes no sense to setup another mail server (Kerio) and add the same accounts again. Double work, no benefit.

Setting up your own Mail Server only makes sense if you have your own domain and if you want to manage the mailboxes on that server.

Why shouldn't your users login directly to the Strato mail server and receive and send the mails directly?

With Kerio Connect, it is still possible to retrieve mails from another mail server via POP3. But sending mails out via relay is not user based. So you either send the mails out directly (not via Strato) or you relay through Strato, but with the same authenticated user.

thanks for your reply,

i want to download the mails to my own mail server, because my company wants to store all emails internally and not on an external provider.

Using the same login for all authentications at strato is no problem, as long as the senders email address isn't changed by authentification with another email address.

in some regions it's common, due to several reasons, to use SMTP relay servers.
It's sufficient to have just one SMTP relay server if you just want to send email via 1 ISP.
