howdy

had some weird goings on with email delivery

mail was sent by one of our clients periodically over the past month or so... unbeknownst to us.. the mail was not being delivered... nor did the client get any sort of undelivered error message

then.. all of a sudden.... all of the messages were delivered pretty much simultaneously this past saturday

anyone have any idea what might be going on.. or where to look for a solution

thanks in advance

Did you check the mail log? If the messages were held in Queue it should help

get the orig. msg's from your client (as attachment) and check the detailed msg about the send/receive dates etc. of the server with it.

Also check the logs against the dates/times the msg was delivered.

IF he received the msg all at once, all msg's should be found in the mail log all at the same time/day. Start from there.

Good point, getting the original mails and checking the Received headers should show where the mails hung. If it is one of your own systems it should than be relatively easy to check the logfiles, or contact the server administrator if it was an externals system.
