Just had to troubleshoot this with a remote user who had installed Operator softphone on a new iOS7 device.

Under iOS > Settings > Privacy > Microphone you need to allow Operator to have access to the microphone on iPhone. Otherwise the microphone is muted and the user cannot be heard.

On an existing iOS installation of Operator that is upgraded (say from iOS6) I believe this setting is grand-fathered and does not need to be applied.

Hth,

ft.

This is likely not just an iOS limitation either. I don't use the Operator softphone, but I've had to do similar methods for Windows 8 (Skype, in one case).

Good information, though.

Also, one other thing I found ... the Operator app won't allow me to buy the enhanced codecs. I am going back to the Bria app since the mobile codec g.729 sounds so much more clear!

Unless you can offer any tweaks to Operator app, it does sound more glitchy than the Bria app.

We don't have G.729 in the softphone app as it is not supported in the server. Have you tried for example iLBC?

Will this feature be made available sometime this year 2014 (hopefully earlier than later) ?

Since it shows as a premium purchase, will it become an in app purchase like some other VOIP soft phone options ?

Thank you.

Hi,

G.729 does not show as a premium purchase in Kerio Operator Softphone. Adding support for g.729 is currently not in our plans for 2014.
