Hi, on a new server mails are exclusively accessed by providers via POP3 download. There is no domain ready for a DNS entry, for example mail.meinefirma.com.
Which host name can then be used?

The Internet Hostname should be corresponding to the PTR record of your server's IP address.

Do you have a static IP address for your server or a dynamic IP address.

I have a dynamic adress and no domain name. So, there is no PTR Record or DNS-Server.

OK. Are you sending mails out? If so, are you going via your ISPs smart host or are you sending directly?

The Internet Hostname is used for sending mails, to greet the receiving mail server.

So if you send via smart host and the smarthost accepts it, you could even use "localhost" as Internet Hostname.

Hi,
i send mails out via smtp smarthost. That works well but I'm afraid that the one or other e-mail is detected as spam in the recipient.

This will not happen as the smarthost will send the mail to the recipient with the correct Internet Hostname. So your mail will not be detected as Spam.
