After installing the patch (Version 8.2.4) KC seems to be unable to deliver mails. The queue is filled with outgoing mails unable to be delivered because of a DNS lookup failed!

Error log reports „tcpiphlp.cpp: failed to update DNS servers; failed to open /etc/resolv.conf: (2) No such file or directory"

Is it just an error on my machine or does anybody having the same trouble?

Thanks in advance for any support!

Do you have /etc/resolv.conf?
What Linux is that?
What Kerio Connect version did you upgrade from?

If we manually install the patch, is this version not needed essentially?

It's a Mac OS X Server. I cannot log into the machine via ssh or VNC, 'cause KC currently seems to block it. It still does not work properly since I installed the upgrade. Not very funny.

I've upgraded from 8.2.2, where everything was working fine. This is the first time I notice such an error message.

I'm presently unable to get a download of the 8.2.4 installer/updater.

Download never starts. Pulled?

No. Servers are probably overloaded. We are working on it.

Check if there is a /etc directory (open Terminal and enter "sudo ls -al". It should point to /private/etc.
If the link is missing you can create it with "sudo ln -s /private/etc/ /etc".

It would be fine, if I could log into the machine via SSH or VNC (Remote), but all services are down since I've installed the update. I had to drive to my datacenter and get physical access. Very, very annoying. Why does this problem suddenly occur? We have never had any problems like this!

Normally, there should be an symbolic link /etc pointing to /private/etc. I know my machines very well.
But what I didn't know, if there's a chance your installer removed this?

What if the link still exists? I will know it tomorrow, but I want to have an possible fix accessible.

Could you please try to figure out, what are the possible reasons and solutions?

No, upgrade to 8.2.4 is not needed if you run 8.2.3 with a hotfix. It is recommended for older 8.2.x versions.

Theoretically it is possible. We do not have any script in the installer to work with /etc. But I cannot rule out that Apple's Package Maker is doing something with it while building the installer package. We need to investigate this.

Okay. I will check this. If I can investigate something interesting, I will report it to you.
