Hi,
We'd like to test a SIP provider (sonetel).
However, I can't add this account as a SIP external interface.
Here is their wiki explaining how to configure asterisk with their settings:
www.sonetel.com/site/pmwiki.php?n=Admin.ConnectingAsterisk
And here are the settings on how to configure xLite (succesfully tested)
www.sonetel.com/site/pmwiki.php?n=Admin.ConfigureXlite
I'm afraid some required settings are not available in the kerio interface?
Also, there are no details about the registration error in the logs. Do I need to activate some Advanced logging somewhere?
Thanks,
Thomas

Hi Thomas,
I have seen the links and can tell you that it must work normally with Operator. The settings are very simple.
Just fill out what you can and if it doesn't go to advance tab and use "to" instead of "invite". but i think it will work.

Hi Carlo,
I tried this, but it still doesn't work.
Also tried with User ID differs from the telephone number, with SIP user ID in REGISTER request only...
The very same SIP account works well with a softphone, so it's not because of a wrong credential.
The problem is that there is no relevant information in the Kerio logs. I can't see which setting is incorrect...

Hi,

Since they don't use phone numbers in the configuration, you need to use the option 'User ID differs from the telephone number' when configuring the SIP interface in Operator. Have a look at the KB article about Sipgate.com, it is a similar case.

Hi Vladimir,
Tried that too, but still no luck. Again, is there somewhere a detailed log, which would help me find which setting is incorrect?
Thanks,
Thomas

You can enable Asterisk messages in the debug log. However, probably the best method is to use the built-in packet sniffer and then analyze the packet dump in Ethereal/Wireshark.

In Wireshark, you can set the filter to "sip" or use the tool under Telephony > VoIP Calls.

OK, but where can I find this debug log? I mean, how can I activate these asterisk messages?

You can go to Logs using the last icon in the left-most navigation column in the Operator's administration GUI.

Thanks Vladimir, I know where to find the logs. But I suppose I need to activate some advanced logging debug mode? The newest messages in the debug log are 6 months old...

Just right-click in the debug log and then select the log messages you need.

thomas,
i had the same kind of problem,
in my case i had to add the Hostname+ipadres to the hostfile itself,
if you want to know if it is the same problem for you then you should call your provider and ask if they get/see register attempts.

in my case the hostname was something.domain.nl and the operator did not resolve this/propplerly as an ipadres (i have heard others with kerio and a broadsoft provider)
so in the hostfile i had to add the ipadres to this hostname.
