Hi all,

We have a Kerio Operator 2.3.0 build 3123 provsioned no problems. We also have several Android smartphones provisioned with Kerio Operator Softphone version 2.2.0.56637 no dramas.

Problem is when I try and connect roaming smartphones to our LAN network (where Kerio PBX is located) via a VPN cliet. I cannot connect softphone to PBX. Once VPN is established, I can ping PBX, but cannot register.

Any suggestions?

Hi,

our softphone connects to the hostname configured in Operator. Usually, this is a FQDN (Fully qualified domain name), for example operator.example.com. It is quite usual that when you are in the same network, this hostname is unavailable. When you open a web browser and point it to the hostname, does it load the Operator Client interface?

There are two solutions:
a) Configure NAT on your router to forward requests from the internal network for the public IP address of Operator back to the Operator's local address. (preferred)
b) Modify the DNS system so that it resolves the hostname to the Operator's local address. (less preferred)

Filip

Hi Filip,

Thanks for replying. Mt problems are not DNS related. Here are the facts.

1. LAN (10.1.1.0/24 is behind a Sonicwall NSA 240 and PBX is on LAN 10.1.1.x
2. FQDN of PBX is accessible from both WAN and LAN no probs
3. I have Android phones with Kerio softphone installed, these phones work fine when used from employees home locations (home IP addresses in a whitelist on firewall to allow access)
4. For softphones to be used roaming anywhere, I wanted to have phones connected to LAN via VPN, then Kerio softphone should connect as if they are on the LAN.

Problem is that when phones are connected via VPN, the Kerio Softphone software doesn't seem to recognize that an active VPN tunnel is there. It tried to send all Kerio traffic out via Internet. VPN is working fine, as I can access other resources on the LAN, intranet, webmail, etc...but Kerio Softphone doesn't even attempt to send trafiic across the VPN tunnel, even though the "Use VPN If Active" check box is checked.

Thoughts?

I see. Can you confirm that the phone provisions but never registers. At least that's what I was able to reproduce.
