Hey there,

does anyone has Experiences Upgrading an xServe Dual QuadCore 2,26GHz with 10.6.8 to 10.9.4 and Kerio Connect 8.3.1 running.

Is it just stopping Kerio Connect, installing 10.9 and the Updates and final Starting Kerio Connect again?

Thanks for an advise.

Hello Jotmaster,

Usual rules - run a full backup of Kerio Connect first; then, yes, it should be very straightforward.

Best regards,

Neil.

As Neil mentioned, upgrading the OS of a Kerio Connect server from 10.6.8 to 10.9.4 shouldn't be an issue.

However, I noticed you are running on an XServe. Is that machine running standard 10.6.8 client... or 10.6.8 server?

Standard 10.6.8 client upgrade... no sweat.

10.6.8 Server upgrade is a BIG deal if you are using any of the other services... (file/dns/open directory/etc)... an is not a simple upgrade by a long shot.

Also, obvious stuff... make sure you have enough RAM installed... 10.9.4 is fairly memory hungry as compared to 10.6.8

sfpete makes a good point.

In particular HTTP & HTTPS services (Apache server) need to be permanently disabled if you are running 10.9.4 server. Likewise IM, if you plan on using that.

There are plenty of guidelines in these forums and on other reputable websites; or of course you can contact Kerio Support for more detailed help if required.

Thanks for all the replies.

The xServe runs a 10.6.8 Server OS but only DNS for himself as Service activated. No other services are used.

The plan is to shutdown Kerio Connect Services and Install 10.9 with all Updates but without the Server App.

Seems to be easier as i think before, when i look a all your hints.

Another Option for would be to switch to a HP DL360p with 16GB RAM and Ubuntu, or Debian as OS.
I heard it should be a difference like night and day, with spot on the Performance ?

Anybody has experiences for that case.
Thanks

Kerio Connect makes lots of small, fast changes to the message store - so fast disk access is essential for good performance. Especially if you have a large store and/or a large number of users.

The OS X filesystem isn't best suited for this, compared to other disk formats that are available.

As for the OS - if you prefer a Windows environment over linux, that should work fine.

Linux can offer an extremely light OS which will aid performance.

You'll find more opinions and details of other user's experiences & preferences if you do some searches through these forums.
