Hi there

Is there a possiblity to mark multiple messages as spam in KMS 6.0.1 WebMail?

When I have 20 new mail messages in my inbox and I want to mark them as spam, I shift-click them ==> all 20 are marked, but then the spam button is greyed out.

It is very time-consuming to click each and every item.

Thanks, Pascal

It's security reason, not to be able to mark more message as spam

Bronislav,

Please explain why allowing us to select multiple messages and mark them as spam is a "security" problem.

I have created a spam trap address on my website to trap spammers that harvest email addresses from websites. This address is not used by anyone. So any email I receive to it is guranteed to be spam. Webstar V mail server actually has a feature where you can tell the server that this is a spamtrap address and it will flag all senders to that address as spammer. On Kerio, I thought I can do it manually and once a week, use webmail and log into the spam account and do a select-all and mark as spam. As you can imagine, my scheme failed miserably when trying to select hundreds of mail pieces and marking them as spam.

I thought it must be an oversight and 6.0.1 will have fixed it. I just found out from you that it is a feature and not a bug!

Along with being able to mark multiple messages as spam, can you give us a way to select the entire In-box and not just what is displayed? Give us all the warning dialog if you wish. Like "you have just selected 1,543 messages, are you sure?" But please let us decide if we want to do this and not treat us like 4-year olds that you have to "protect".

Particularly with the slowness of KMS6's webmail, my users need shortcuts to make their life bearable.

Thanks,

Charles Ying

P.S. In OS X 10.3.5/Safari, Apple's convention is use Cmd-click to select additional item and Shift-click to select "from there to here". Your webmail GUI uses Shift-click the way cmd-click (or ctrl-click on Windows) is used. Please fix soon.

If I have to mark 50 messages as spam after my holiday, why should it be more secure to have to click each single item?

Bronislav, please explain!

It's because of 2 reasons:
1/ Processing only one message a time, we do not let users to mark as spam something they didn't want (using extended select)
2/ Some "clever" users want to try, that it will do, if they mark all messages as spam... not a good thing. Leting them mark only one in a time, may convince them not to do that.

We have several users that get a LOT of spam every day. Having to select each spam individually will just frustrate them. I was really looking for this new Bayes filter to be able to help them, but they dont have the time to click through 150+ spam a day and classify them. Can this not be changed? Is it a question of stability?

Might it be possible to make it an option to change this setting/behaviour through the admin console?

From page 201 in the admin guide:

Warning: Only one message at a time can be highlighted. When you attempt to highlight more messages, the Spam and Not spam buttons will be inactive. This prevents damage to the spam filter, because applying these buttons to more randomly selected messages at a time might lead to non-recoverable corruption of the filtering function.

This seems to conflict with some of the claims above. Is tech supoort right, or is the manual?

I didn't think this would be a big deal, but the President of our company just sent me an e-mail asking why he can't bulk mark spam!

I suggest that the administrator be able to give bulk spam marking rights to specific users. To work around any filter corruption, consider caching the requests and applying them one-by-one internally.

Thanks!

Regardless of the reasoning behind it, this is a very good feature to try to add to the product that can only serve as proof of KMS's robustness in pulling off such a significat feat, especially if the manual is correct in that it may cause corruption. If would be great if you could find a way to overcome this and offer such this feature. Come on guys! Is there any way that this can be done?
