Hi,

Our customer wants to ring a group of phones and then send the call to voicemail. This then needs to be emailed to a user

Also if possible they would like some groups to overflow to a second group, but then send to voicemail based on the initial ring group.

Can we achieve either of these?

Previously they had this working in an old version of FreePBX

Thanks

Hi,

ring groups have a fallback option. You can use it to route the calls to another ring group or to a voicemail box using a voicemail direct dial prefix. However, the fallback option is static and will always work the same way despite where the call came from.

Operator supports multiple registrations, meaning the same extension can be configured on multiple devices. Perhaps you don't need ring groups at all.

The scenario is:

The main incoming number rings the auto attendant.

At this point you can choose 1. Sales 2. Support or 3. Accounts

If you choose 1 then it should ring the phones in the sales group. If no one answers the call then we would like it to ring the phones in accounts. If still no one answers then it needs to goto a sales department voicemail. This voicemail then needs sending to the Sales Department email address.

If you choose 2 then the same process as for the Sales Department. The voicemail needs to be the Support Department and sent to the Support Team email address.

If you choose 3 then the call needs to go straight to the Accounts Department Voicemail. This then needs emailing to the Accounts Department.

Is any of the above possible? And if so how do we set it up in Operator?

Thanks

Hi,

there is not a magic checkbox for specifically that, but I believe you can achieve it by creating several "specific" ring groups.

Let me demonstrate what I mean by an example.
(arrow indicates a fallback, 7.. is a voicemail direct dial prefix)
Create nine ring groups:
Sales 411 -> Support 412 -> Accounts 413 -> 711
Support 421 -> Sales 422 -> Accounts 423 -> 721
Accounts 431 -> Sales 432 -> Support 433 -> 731
