When a user is created from the Active Directory, it takes the user login and appends the domain to create the primary email address. When this is imported into the kerio mailserver into a domain, the user login is used again and the domain is appended. We use initials as the AD login but standardise on firstname.lastname<at>domain for email addresses. (security practice). With the user initials being used as the primary email address this is reflected in the webmail default address and the addresses of everyone when we export to a public folder (to create a GAL)

Is there a way to alter the primary email address (a la exchange) at the AD level, so when it drives through to the Kerio server and webmail, we get firstname.Lastname.

Hi Richyrich,

The only workaround I have found for this is to login to each users webmail and manually enter the default from address. To do this login to webmail go to Settings > Mail and enter the required email address in Default From Address field. This must also be done within the Outlook environment if you are running that in parallel!

Ths has been very frustrating since I have 240 users! The issue also raises itself when creating a public address book - when exporting from Kerio admin to a public folder it creates entries with all user addresses. Again I had to then manually remove all unwanted address entries, leaving only firstname.lastname addresses.

Having used exchange in the past I would say Kerio is a really good solution but they have seriously overlooked a small but very useful option and that is the ability to set the default address!

Kerio people - are there any plans to change this?

Hope this helps!
