Hello,

I am experiencing problems editing the mailserver.cfg. Please someone tell me if I am doing anything wrong. Here below is what I am doing:

1. I restored the entire mail server from backup with ./kmsrecover on the new server.

2. I wanted to put the store folder on an external drive; I carbon copied the entire store folder to external drive.

3. I have show all hidden folders: navigated to the /usr/local/kerio/mailserver/mailserver.cfg

4. Before starting, I made sure Kerio connect is not running

5. I changed the path for storedir to: /Volumes/keriomain/store (its new location); further edit to kerio instructions - "On the target server edit the mailserver.cfg file and locate the "StoreDir", "RelativePathsRoot", and "StorePath" variables"

6. startup kerio but the mailserver.cfg changes the value to the old path of the store. I made sure Kerio was not running before I started to edit the mailserver.cfg file

I have no idea why this is happening. Is it better to do this on terminal? Any suggestion or comments will be appreciated. Thank you.

Hi,

Allow Kerio Connect to start without giving it a connection to the internet. You can then change the path to the store directory in Webadmin->Configuration->Advanced Options->Store Directory.

Then, once you're sure the config is correct - connect the server to the internet.

Thank you for the fix but I am wondering why it didn't work by entering the same info on the mailserver.cfg . This was a test before I copy over the current store over. I am assuming that since it is now pointing to the external drive, i can rsync the current store to the new location after stopping the kerio connect. Once the sync is done, I can start the kerio connect without any problems right.

Anyway, if you can help me understand why it didn't work as the KB instructed, it be nice to know.

I am running 10.9.5 on a mac mini. Thanks!

Hi,

Usually it will be that there is an error in the mailserver.cfg file so it falls back to the backup file.

Or the changes were made with Kerio Connect server running (I know you'd checked that).
