Hi! i have manually migrated all emails from version 7 to v8. Now the issue is that mailboxes are constantly reindexing. In the log file, under warning it says Inconsistent message index detected in folder username/foldername

But it never ends. also apple mail shows all emails and then they all go away and then it comes and this is driven me crazy

Is there any way to RE DO all the indexes from scratch fro the #msgs folder?

Thanks. Carlos

Index inconsistency is detected when the number of .eml files in the #msgs folder is different from the value in index.fld.
Please try 'ls -al #msgs' output from an affected folder. If you see entries such as "xxxxxxxx copy.eml", you must remove (or rename w/ different extension, test, then remove) them.

Hi! tnka you for your reply. I don;t have any .files containing .copy This is what I Have (a small part)

rw------- 1 root wheel 670242 Oct 31 10:55 0000218b.eml
-rw------- 1 root wheel 10518 Oct 31 11:43 0000218c.eml
-rw------- 1 root wheel 1024594 Oct 31 12:39 0000218d.eml
-rw------- 1 root wheel 1271280 Oct 27 10:04 100000001.eml
-rw------- 1 root wheel 120610 Oct 27 10:14 100000002.eml
-rw------- 1 root wheel 891055 Oct 27 10:19 100000003.eml
-rw------- 1 root wheel 496680 Oct 27 10:27 100000004.eml
-rw------- 1 root wheel 84411 Oct 27 10:40 100000005.eml

Those cointaining the 1 before were added by me in order to keep old and new messages. But reindexing the mailboxes ended up in a loop.

Do you have any ideas?

If changes you made in that folder resulted in the creation of any additional .eml files, it will cause a discrepancy with the value in index.fld. The number of .eml files needs to match what's in index.fld.

Based on the snippet you provided, it's possible that index.fld expects 3 messages but the folder contains 8 - resulting in the warning message + issues you've observed.

Ok, but how can I solve this? I mean, it is reindexing the entire folder every 24 hs!

I cannot loose those emails

Never *ever* rename files in the #msgs folder! The filenames you used are invalid are not recognized by the server. You need to remove them.
