We sometimes have reliability problems with Kerio Winroute 6.x. Does anyone have a good way to create a solution where Winroute 6.x is the primary Gateway to the internet (because we love the Antivirus filtering of Winroute), but have a hardware firewall (which bypasses winroute) as a backup gateway, and make it so the hardware firewall becomes the default gateway automatically when Winroute 6.x quits working. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. We simply cannot have 70 users with no internet access while we fix Winroute! It seems to work reliably for months sometimes and then sometimes for no apparent reason, the service will just stop and sometimes restarting the service won't fix it. And as others have found out, some winroute 6.x builds have been less reliable than others. Bottom line: we need an automatic backup gateway (hardware firewall) solution. Thanks.

Why not switch IP addresses of the KWF and the other firewall? Since the gateway address is a client issue, I don't think you can make another solution. Just give the hardware firewall the IP address of the KWF and give the KWF a temporary IP address while you're tinkering with it...
