I am in the process of setting up a new control box. I have set 3 of the interfaces up individually, they are all under the Trusted / Local Interfaces and each has a separate IP of, 192.16811.254 &
I have also setup a DHCP server for each of the interfaces again these have the same IP ranges as assigned to the interface, so for example; to

The Gateway and DNS for different for each IP range, so for example the second interface of 192.168.11.x has a Gateway configured of and a dns server of

I can ping find between pc's on the different IP ranges however I am unable to ping to the host name. If you run the commands from within the control it can resolve both the IP address and host name.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

I am guessing you mean using DNS Server in the second paragraph.

Do you see the hostnames under DHCP? Can you ping hostnames within the same subnet? Or only having issues with DNS across subnets?

Some tools we recommend for troubleshooting DNS issues would be nslookup (Yeah I am oldschool) and dig.

To get extra info, you can enable DNS messages under decoded protocols in debug log.

George, remember to work well DNS you need a DNS server capable to support DDNS, from Windows 2000 to present all Microsoft Server OS support this feature, create zone for each name example,, each one with him respective reverse zone.
Assuming your clients are Microsoft Win, personally I always set disable NETBIOS over IP ( IPv4), LMHOST and I check two options on DNS tab to make mandatory the client write A HOST in DNS.

About DHCP server, we can send commands over DHCP, like NTP, TFTP, routes... the DDNS, if you need more support about the DHCP options please let me know.

Please always remember send DOMAIN NAME with the same name like the DNS zone to complete FQDN.

Try from different VLAN send PING -a "IP ADDRESS" to check reverse resolution.
