How does Kerio Control determine Internet Connectivity?

We have one Kerio Control box that emails us about 10-15 times per day sometimes, saying that an Interface is offline, but you can still connect to the Control box via that connection, so it's obviously up.

What kind of IP address is being used? Public (modem) or Internal (Router/GW)
Control checks always the Gateway on the WAN side. This can be change to check for example the IP numbers of google DNS.

It's on two public connections. Whereabouts can I set what it checks for connectivity?

Check the "advanced button" beside Internet Connectivity.
There you can change the settings.
Other question. Fail-Over or Load Balancing?
Load Balancing will sometimes do strange things.
