I'm interested in being able to search our archives beyond just subjects and sender addresses.

I know I have some options in the old webmail interface, but there are some limitations.

Are there any options available? Are the archives excluded from indexing for performance considerations? Can they have their own separate index so as to not bog down the user indices?

Thanks for any insights.

Regards,
Lyle

Make sure to enable Full Text Search (Configuration->Advanced Options, Store Directory tab.

Additionally, indexing on the archive folder is disabled by default.

It can be enabled in mailserver.cfg:

1. Stop Kerio Connect service
2. Edit the mailserver.cfg file in the Kerio Connect home directory.
3. Find the section named FullTextSearch
4. Change the value of the parameter IndexArchiveFolders to 1
5. Restart Kerio Connect Service

Thanks very much, Ernesto.

If I may impose for one more answer...

Are there any risks to enabling this? Minimum system requirements, or the like?

With regards,
Lyle

Th enabling of the Full Text Search feature will take some time depending on the size of the message store, specially when you include the archives. In the case of very big message stores (Terabytes) will take days to complete the indexing.

The disk usage will not grow significantly, but it will require some additional space (hundreds of megabytes maybe) to store the index.

Performance of the server will degrade during this time. Plan on doing it during a weekend maybe to avoid affecting the users.

Here is a KB article link that talks about this feature: http://kb.kerio.com/1156
