howdy

looking to move large quantities of emails whilst in kerio connect client

i have an inbox with ±150,000 messages... & would like to do the following:

- search with kerio connect client for specific emails
- (found set could be upward of 5000 emails)
- would like to then move those ±5000 emails to another folder

is this possible to do quickly... or do i need to do it using drag-and-drop... 50 messages at a time (also... is there a way to change the number of messages showing in connect client like there is in "old webmail")

also

- we appear to be receiving duplicate emails from some of our senders but not others... i have checked in the headers.. and the message ID is exactly the same

- is there anyway to find duplicate emails within kerio connect

thanks

Hi BarneyRubble,

Trying to move that much email in one go is asking for trouble. There is a reason why webmail will only display a certain number of emails. If you try to delete or move 5000 emails through the WebMail client then this will cause your email account and Kerio MailServer to potentially freeze up.

If you need to move a large amount of email you can do this from the back end e.g.

1. Stop Kerio Connect
2. Navigate to the Store directory
3. Move the email messages out of one folder and into another
4. Start Kerio Connect

Be aware that you would need to do a re-index if Kerio does not trigger one on the fly and if you move alot of emails then a re-index may take a while.

Alternatively if you do this in Old WebMail you display 200 messages at a time and move 200 emails at a time through WebMail and then mailserver can deal with that amount just fine.

Feel free to respond if you want further details.

I hope this helps,
Vicky

Vicky,

It would be nice to be able to create a Rule and run it against the existing email folder(s). It could be implemented so that in cases like this, it finds a match, does the intended task (move to new folder), and goes to find the next match.

If you are in Linux you can use a script to move the files .. we have a customer that generates 40-50 thousand messages a month and we run a script that automates the move based on date...

We got the scripts from

apologies for the delay... been out of action for a few days

appreciate all of the replies

markk.. totally agree.. the ability to create and run scripts wold be a god send... and... if those scripts can run at a rate that doesn't "freeze up"the server down... ideal

vomsupport... thanks for the linux links.. however.. we are running this on OSX... so.. unfort.. not possible to run them

huge thanks again all
