this has been ongoing for a while, possibly started when we had a 6 hour power outage. it mostly works, but will randomly pick a user and make them manually login.

directory services tab says "cannot connect to domain controller" but test connection is successful.

enabled auth messages in debug log and I'm getting this:

[22/Sep/2015 11:22:21] {auth} Interface name or addresses list has changed, need to update smb config
[22/Sep/2015 11:22:21] {auth} Unable to update DNS record. (65280) kerberos_kinit_password GATEWAY$@AD.WILSON.LAN failed: Preauthentication failed kerberos_kinit_password GATEWAY$<_at_>AD.WILSON.LAN failed: Preauthentication failed
[22/Sep/2015 11:22:58] {auth} NTLM: authentication has failed. - BH NT_STATUS_ACCESS_DENIED
[22/Sep/2015 11:23:09] {auth} ADConnector: testJoin() - (65280) kerberos_kinit_password GATEWAY$@AD.WILSON.LAN failed: Preauthentication failed kerberos_kinit_password GATEWAY$<_at_>AD.WILSON.LAN failed: Preauthentication failed Join to domain is not valid: Logon failure

the testjoin I think happens when I click the test button. the first 2 line repeat ever few minutes.

I updated Sunday night with no other config changes. time is connected to NTP, same local server as the AD DCs use, verified the times all match. what else can i check?
