Hi all,

we are trying to set up Kerio with an existing (LDAP) user base. User names are short names composed of a few letters of the users real name, while their primary mail address is firstname.surname<_at_>domain. By using the preferred mail address setting we were able to ensure that the latter is stamped on outgoing mails by default.

However, when using delegation and a user is sending mails on behalf of another user, the senders mail address is loginname<_at_>domain, not the preferred mail address. Neither the webmail client nor Outlook can be convinced of using the preferred mail address instead (funny effect: When user A tries to send as user B and explicitly enters user B's preferred mail address manually, the address really stamped on the outgoing message is changed to user A's preferred address, while the comment part (real name) of the address stays that of user B).

So, is this a question of configuration or is it impossible for delegation to respect preferred mail addresses?

Oh, and we are using 8.5.2.

No, we can't change user account names ...

Kind regards,
Tom

Ok, answering myself Smile

After talking to tech support partner it seems that kerio will prefer the internal "main" address over the configured "preferred mail address" every now and then without any chance to get this fixed. Not very pleasant.

So, I have just set up a sendmail relay server using genericstable to rewrite senders on outgoing mails. This does not resolve the problem with internal mails, but at least, addresses get corrected as soon as a message leaves kerio.

Kind regards,
Tom
