We have active sync, but do not use it. Desktops use Thunderbird/Lightning/LDAP and Android devices use K9/caldav/carddav.

With the upcoming license renewal we thought to remove active sync, but we get the following warning back:

Quote:
In order to complete this request, we need your customer's acknowledgement that this
change is irreversible, and they will lose all rights to the portion of the license
we are downgrading, whether it is the number of users or an extension.

What does "irreversible" mean here? Can active sync not be simply added or removed from the license? If we remove it and want it back in the future, are there extra costs involved? Do we then need to buy all of Kerio Connect again or so?

Kind regards, Vincent

I think that is a boilerplate warning on all Kerio license changes, usually a license change is reducing the number of users and the warning means you forfeit those user accounts and would need to repurchase them to get them back. As Activesync is a yearly license fee that is the same in year one as every other year you should have no problems re-adding it in the future.

Yes, that's correct. Vincent where have you found this message? Perhaps I can suggest to have it updated to be more clear.

Ok, so i can re-add active sync at any time for the standard yearly fee. I do not mind paying for a couple of unused month if it is in between yearly renewals.

The message came from our Kerio agent, who must have received it from Kerio when he tried our renewal without active sync.

Kind regards, Vincent

That is correct as long as you have an active software maintenance agreement, exact cost will depend on where you are in the contract and how proration works out.
