Hi,

Currently we are setting up the chat functionality of Kerio (8.4.2) on 2003 server.

The IM service is running on port 5222 and the security policy is set to "no restrictions".

But when i'm trying to log on, I get this message "TLS handshake failed".

Thanks for your help

Please have a look at the following kb article and check, that you have configured everything correctly:
http://kb.kerio.com/1403

You should also be aware of the fact, that the latest version of Kerio Connect is 9.0.4 patch 1

I've followed this documentation to set up IM on the server, but I get stuck on the "SSL handshake" error when I try to log in with pidgin.

In the advanced tab of pidgin :
connexion security -> use encryption if necessary
port -> 5222
mydomainname

What information could i have missed ?

There could be many reasons:
- server SSL certificate. Does Pidgin trust it? Is it a valid certificate or self-signed?
- port 5222 uses STARTTLS. Is Pidgin correctly configured for this?
- for old-fashioned SSL connection port 5223 should be used
- TLS incompatibility. What TLS version does Pidgin use? I recommend to upgrade Kerio Connect to latest 9.0.x version due to support for TLS 1.2.

Thanks for all your answers.

I finaly managed to get it work with an other XMPP client (pandion).

It should also be possible with pidgin and his nss preferences plugin to configure ciphers and other settings for SSL /TLS.
