Hi,

I've had KMS 6.0 running for a few weeks, set to backup the store folders weekly (full) and daily (differential). Today a user mistakenly lost some emails, so we tried to use the backups. We found out that although the backups had been created and were of considerable size (250-300 MB for the full backups), they only contained the messages for one of the users. When manually uncompressing the gzipped tars, the uncompressed files were only around 100k in all (???).

We are using Windows 2003 Server, KMS 6.0.0. KMS is installed in the default directory (C:\Program Files\Kerio\MailServer), and the mail store is in D:\Mail Server.

I manually backup up (ie: copied the D:\Mail Server to a backup location via Windows Explorer), and used kmsrecover. As expected, only the emails of that one user were restored, and the rest would have been lost if I had not manually backed up the data myself.

What is going on?

Thanks in advance.

I think the backup in 6.0.0 didn't work. You should upgrade to 6.0.2. Besides the backup, 6.0.2 is much improved over 6.0.0.

Hope this helps,
BP

Thanks for the tip ... I updated KMS to 6.0.2 and now it behaves correctly. My user lost his emails though ... How could Kerio release KMS 6.0.0 with such a bug?
