I have a remote user with a Snom 870 working from a home office.

Her phone works great for making/receiving calls.

BUT... she is unable to transfer.

It seems like the transfer button does not work. The caller hears music on hold, but does not get transferred. My remote user is able to re-connect to the caller.

The remote user is using encrypted connection and the 'Extension is behind NAT' box is checked. They have a home DSL internet connection.

Please advise.

Thanks,

ft.

With some help from Kerio support we realized this problem manifested because the network range at the home office was the same as the network range at the real office.

Apparently the handsets reach out to each other directly at some point during a transfer.

We changed the DHCP settings on the remote router to allocate IP addresses in a different range and the problem is now resolved.

Thanks,

ft.

Hi,

in general, this is the best way. It's hard to say what exactly happened without a debug log and packet dump, but the mechanism is quite simple. If address of the SIP device is in the configured Local IP address range, asterisk will use a local ip source address in the SIP packets. Otherwise it will use the configured public address.
