Hello,

my prospect client has neither ActiveDirectory nor Apple Open Directory - just a plain Linux LDAP server for its staff. Can Kerio Operator get the user accounts from this server?
The UI and help only mentions AD and OpenDirectory.

Thanks,
Philipp

Hi,

it is not supported. Operator treats each directory server differently. Operator fetches different fields, sends different queries, etc. I don't think it would work with a custom structure of your LDAP server. The only way would be if your LDAP server looked like a AD or OpenDirectory.

Thanks, Filip,
oh that's a pity - I do not think the Linux guys there will make anything look like any MS product...

I did not expect LDAP to be a problem, as KO is built around open source components... Sad

Well, unfortunately there are not many Operator users running LDAP.

I'm not sure if it will be of any help, Operator uses these queries to get users:
ActiveDirectory:
filter = "(&(objectClass=user)(objectCategory=person)" + customFilter + ")";
AppleOpenDirectory:
filter = "(&(objectClass=inetOrgPerson)" + customFilter + ")";

And fetches these fields:
ActiveDirectory:
  'sAMAccountName'
  'name'
  'telephoneNumber'
  'mail'
  'mobile'
  'userAccountControl'
  'objectGUID'
  'otherTelephone'
AppleOpenDirectory
  'uid'
  'cn'
  'telephoneNumber'
  'mail'
  'mobile'
  'userAccountControl'
  'uidNumber'
  'telephoneNumber'

Great, thank you,
I will pass this on to the LDAP admin!

Btw., KerioConnect has a built-in LDAP server. Would Operator be able to get users from KC ?

Hi there,

ahm... yes this is working, but the LDAP of KC is a bit lame, i tried it at first, but i did not get all of my public contacts folder, because of bad implementation of ldap in KC.

@Filip,

Maybe it is a idea to think about the Linux LDAP users.
As I am one of those too. At this moment I only use MS-AD for usage with Kerio products. I am still sad Kerio Directory server development is stopped Sad
That could have been the answer for a collecting Directory server for MS-AD, OpenDir and Linux LDAP.
