We have been using Kerio Connect for quite some time now.
Normally our secretaries would plan in meetings via their Outlook / Kerio Outlook Connector but lately we have had some requests for more people to be able to.

Via the webmail client I have granted them "Owner" permissions to the calendar. However, this does not work.

  1. Planning in via Thunderbird results in the event not being made and not showing up
  2. Planning in via Kerio Webmail results in getting an error "The reminder will not appear because the event is not in your Calendar folder." and if you have attendees "Invitation will not be sent to attendees because the event is not in your Calendar folder.". Clicking "Continue anyway" results in the event being put in the calendar but no invitation goes out (and for some reason all but one attendees are removed from the list as well?)

How does this work for our secretaries?
The permissions for that calendar are exactly the same (owner rights).
The only difference is that they plan it via Outlook / the Kerio Connect Outlook connector and the others try via webmail/thunderbird/Apple calendar client.

Hi Frank,

For managing other people's calendars you will need to use delegation instead of just regular sharing:

The messgae "The reminder will not appear because the event is not in your Calendar folder." is a standard message a user will get if they try to create an event in a calendar that is not theirs.

Test this with delegation and you should have different results.

Hi Vicky,

This is actually not an mail account that is delegated but a public calendar. Our secretaries (with Outlook + connector) are able to put meetings in there (and send out invites) yet anyone with a different mailclient isn't capable of doing so. The meeting does end up on the calendar, but the invites are never sent out.
