I have a script on another server that sends batches of queued system emails to my Connect server on the same local lan. batches processes every 5 minutes at night and every 1 minute during the day, at night the batches can be rather large (up to 300) which is why there's a longer delay. Occasionally Connect will respond with "Data not accepted" for one single emails and my script re-queues the message. on the next batch run the same email completes fine.

I have been unable to correlate this with anything. it happens day and night, almost always a small batch of less than 5, sometimes it's a text email and sometimes html, various recipients, and no more than a couple times a day.

I had already added the scripting server's IP to a IP group and added that group under STMP Security's "do not apply these limits", so rate limiting should not be an issue.

Any ideas? it's a minor inconvenience, but it would be nice to know what's triggering it.

It is impossible to help without any debug logs. Enable the "SMTP Server" logs in the debug log and post the relevant lines here.

finally got another and it was 2 at the same time.

the script is only supposed to send one at a time but this is overlapped, so what appears to have happened is the script encountered a network error of some sort, started sending the 2nd, and somehow both failed. "No such file or directory" is a bit confusing though as both were plain text with no attachments.

network issue is odd as well since both systems are in the same vmware cluster, though on separate servers and have redundant network links. I'm going to move them to the same host and see if it persists.
