So I have several staff members who can not resist adding a smiley face
:)
to the end of every email. Lately, however, this emoticon is somehow turning into a string of characters that looks Asian or Chinese? eg

We are using Outlook 2016, KOFF 9.2.3. This happens maybe 10% of the time, it happens with email sent from Outlook and from email sent from Kerio Webmail interface. When the characters show up on the other end, they also show up in our 'sent mail' folder, when a normal smiley face shows up on the other end, the regular smiley shows up in the 'sent mail' folder. We could switch to plain text email, and I would imagine that fixes the problem, but is less than desirable. I have also suggest staff stop being so darn happy. Any thoughts? Thanks!

This issue has been discussed here http://forums.kerio.com/mv/msg/32448/0/15/
We haven't managed to reproduce this issue, but there is a workaround provided in the last reply of the referenced thread.

This may be part of the solution...

I will try this work around, but I have seen this behavior using Kerio Webmail Interface for the sending client, Outlook 2016 was the client of the recipient. Our Kerio Connect server is 9.2.3 on Ubuntu 16.04

(Posted on the thread you referenced too.)
