Hi,

Running a Mac with Kerio Connect. If I enable Filevault and the computer and the computer restarts automatically, do I need to login for the Kerio Server to start working again (due to Filevault)?

Fore sure you have to login. But If you remote restart the Server you could use "fdesetup authrestart" via terminal.

Ok. Thanks. But if the Mac restarts automatically after a power outage for example, I would still have to login.

Yup thats correct. In this case you may think about an USV (APC 1400VA is about 130€ - 700VA is about 70€ on Amazon. Really not that expensive)

Why would you do this anyway? Servers should not be setup with FileVault. It makes remote administration more difficult. If you're worried about security put your server in a locked room like all good server admins do.

So you think a locked room would prevent somebody form burgle into your server-room? I get your point but i think you can`t generalize it.

Good luck remotely rebooting a server that is setup with FileVault. As I said, any good server admin would secure their servers behind locked doors. FileVault was not created for servers, and if you use external storage, please tell me how FileVault would help.

I agree that using FileVault on a server could cause some serious inconvenience.

But Kerio seem to be recommending it as a step to GDPR compliance: http://forums.kerio.com/t/33313//14277/9e85cd0dcbd7a0ed7a22e ec6352e9930/

Thanks,
