Version 6.06

I am running a pop collector on my network to grab emails from a single 'mail bag' box, and relay them to an exchange server to be distributed. Whenever the pop collector comes to a file that is around 4mb or larger I receive the following in its log:

10/07/04 08:53:01: Retrieving mail from host mail.glasscity.net 10/07/04 08:53:02: Reading msg 1 (5358808 bytes)
10/07/04 08:53:32: POP3 Mail retrieval failed, reason: Timeout while waiting for message from host. [0 bytes, '']
10/07/04 08:53:32: Reading msg 2 (1256 bytes)
10/07/04 08:53:40: POP3 Mail retrieval failed, reason: POP3 Host did not let us RETRieve the mail. [X-KWF-FilterProgress: *****]

does [X-KWF-FilterProgress: *****] have anything to do with my Kerio firewall? If so, can you give me some hints about what to look for.

If not thanks for your time.

Got the same problem here...

My opinion is:
Although your mail server received session greeting first from remote
server, KWF download the data first (in \Tmp folder) in order to scan it
for virus. The effect is... Your mail server keep on waiting and
thought that no transferring is taking place therefore SMTP rendered
inactive and soon timed out.

Even you turned off the anti virus capability of KWF, this won't help.
You should either adjust the Mail server's SMTP / POP timer or Disable
KWF at all. FYI, this problem had never encountered in KWF v5.0+

Regards,
Anthony

Figured out how to fix this up:

You need to disable the Protocol Inspector for SMTP and POP3.
Configuration --> Definitions --> Services --> SMTP --> set the
Inspector to "NONE"
Configuration --> Definitions --> Services --> POP3 --> set the
Inspector to "NONE"

Anthony

Excellent. Thank you very much for letting me know what you did to fix it. I never would have thought of that.
