Hello,

I just downloaded latest version of mail server and I'm looking forward to
evaluate it in a correct way.
Here what I did:
. I added users and groups
. In my network there is no domain even active directory neither Exchange
. actual mails are served as service provided from a 3rd ISP company out of
our perimeter
. I created a domain named Imar (please note our is Imar.biz)
. I set up Outlook clients

Everything works fine

Initially I created a primary domain named Imar.biz instead of actual imar,
but I noted if I send an email from an user already into MailServer's
address book to another one which exists in our imar.biz (internet domain)
but not in MailServer, MailServer returns that recipient is not existing and
doesn't route the email.
For that reason I created a different domain (Imar instead of Imar.biz) but
I don't like this solution just because I believe the email is sent to
Internet Mail server and back received again from Internet instead of being
directly addressed to internal users in our lan. Also you should know I
don't want to include all users into MailServer addresses book so the
problem before described, talking about email not sent to not existing user,
is still up!
I'd like to get your feedback about how to setup in right way MailServer
considering than 90% of our trafic is internal of our lan and the 3rd
company will continue to be our ISP also for mailling.

Hoping been clear, thanks in advance for support you'll be glad to offer to
me.

What you should do is:

Setup the domain in Kerio as Imar.biz.

Create the users that are on the system

Then set the forwarding option in the domain setup to send mail for users who don't exist to your ISP.

This way internal mails will be routed as such and external users can get the mail.

Hello,

thanks for your reply.

I did like you said but if I try to send an email from an accont <at>imar.biz into MailServer's users list to another one which doesn't exist (even with <at>imar.biz), the sender receives an automatic message telling about "not existing user". Please note the recipient exists into our external mail server

Maybe I'm doing something wrong...the question is: what?

Have you set the forwartding for your domain to go back to your ISP.

I know this setup works as I have it configured.

Is the Non-Existent user NDR generated by the Kerio or the external SMTP server?

I did the forwarding setup in Domains' attribute.
The message is returned from MailServer just because is written into the message its self something like: "This is a message from Kerio MailServer..."

Anyway, tomorrow I'll try again and eventually back.

Thanks

Hello, thanks for your reply.

I'm sorry but my problem is still up, here the situation.

Our smtp provider is relay01.fullcompany.telecomitalia.it and it requires autheintication for letting us to send emails. This is the provider of our HSDL line and by putting the address above and credentials in any mail client software, we're able to send emails over that smtp to everybody.

Now, I send an email from an user into Kerio MS to another one with a different domain (prova<_at_>imar.biz->domenico.ferraro<_at_>info2001.it), Kerio ML returns this error:

This is an informative message sent by Kerio MailServer 6.0.3 at MailServer.
The server was not able to deliver your mail message to the following addresses:

<domenico.ferraro<_at_>info2001.it> (relay01.fullcompany.telecomitalia.it: 530 Authentication required)

Options are:

imar.biz as primary domain
domain.forwarding: relay01.fullcompany.telecomitalia.it 25 (no other flags up)
smtp server: open relay
smtp server.smtp delivery: use relay smtp server, host name relay01.fullcompany.telecomitalia.it port 25, also i put the credentials

I'm getting crazy, for sure it'm my fault but I'm not sure where to put my hands.

Thanks for your support

I think you may have identified a shortcoming of KMS6

You can specify to use outbound SMTP Authentication on your primary delivery relay server, however you can't enable use of SMTP auth when sending to a forwarded server.

I think you need a server at your ISP which does not need SMTP Auth, alternatively try contacting support and see what their suggestions are.

The only other option would be to run a parallel SMTP forwarder utility as a proxy which supports SMTP Auth...?

You're right!

I used another smtp server on same machine just because forwarding to another server is not allowed is that server requires auth..

Thanks for your suggestion.
