We've had occasional problems with KMS and caching... I think. I believe it's the cache, but I'm not sure. The cache is very large on the occasion that the problem occurs.

It seems that after the server has been running for several days, 8-9 or more, we eventually get a call from one of our associate companies that mail is getting rejected. The mail logs show that their mail server is blacklisted. Not the same blacklist either, so it's not a blacklist specific problem. Searching the blacklist database returns no results. It's not one company or mail server either. After a restart of KMS, their mail is again allowed through with no problem.

I've also seen a case where mail is "temporarily rejected: sender domain does not resolve" only to have it come through once the mail server services is restarted.

Has anyone else experienced anything similar? It doesn't appear to be anything I can duplicate easily... at least not without waiting for many days.

Thanks,
Scott

What o/s is the KMS running on?

are you suggesting this is a problem with the o/s dns resolver cache - I wasn't aware there was one in KMS...

It's running on Windows 2000 Server. I thought the cache numbers on the statistics page were KMS caching. If it were an OS issue though, I don't think restarting only the KMS service would fix the issue.
