Actually, KOC is updating itself automatically at each start through port 80 (HTTP) from the mailserver.

No, it should work automatically. Port 80 must be opened on the mailserver.

I have my web mail set to port 8080; does that interfere with the KOC update?

Yes, it does. You must set update port in KOC settings on each client to port 8080 to make it working. Note, it works only on HTTP not HTTPS.

Make sure you have http running on KMS on port 80. You can run it on more than one port if you want it on 8080. Set the update port in KOC on the Outlook client to 80. I tried it here with KMS 6.07. The Outlook client updated from KOC 6.05 to 6.07 when Outlook was loaded.

but.. under what rights should be ran MS Outlook to make this upgrade? I could see this process only under admin's account/rights ("Ordinary user" does not have write access to system folders).
Is it true?

Normally, when not running admin, it's probably just a few folders/registry keys that you need to change to everyone/full access.

If Kerio could comment on this it would get rid of a lot of trial and error?

Thanks
