action: permit
log:
translation:NAT (default outgoing interface)

(access to mail from the firewall)
name: mail
source: firewall
desination: Dial-Up
servise: any
action: permit
log:
translation:none

at service replace 'any' with POP3 and SMTP. In the column 'protocol inspector' select none. This way you disable the protocol inspector for POP3 and SMTP. Another option you could try is to disable virus scanning for POP3.

(access to mail from LAN)
name: mail
source: network connected to interface LAN
desination: Dial-Up
service: POP3, SMTP
action: permit
log:
translation:NAT (default outgoing interface)
protocol inspector: none

(access to mail from the firewall)
name: mail
source: firewall
desination: Dial-Up
service: POP3, SMTP
action: permit
log:
translation:none
protocol inspector: none

In your traffic rules you now only specify the mail services. Other traffic should be enabled by adding additional rules with the services you want.

Thank you, feite!
Has Done as you have said (disabled 'scan incoming e-mail' in NAV2003) - and now all working fine.
