I am running KMS 6.0.6 under Suse Linux. I have customized the startup
script (and adjusted file permissions accordingly), so that I run the
server under a non-root account.

Everything works just fine, but KMS can't create new folders.

If there are more people like me concerned that the server is running with
root privileges under Mac and Linux, please send a request to Kerio to fix
this. It is a relatively simple fix. I don't need KMS to be doing any fancy
pre-fork stuff. I have found a workaround for this by running on high ports.

I have been waiting for them to fix this and checking the 6.0.7 and the
6.0.8 in hopes it was fixed, but no dice.

I have filed a ticket with support. It was explained to me that the issue
is that KMS tries to chmod the newly created folder explicitly to root.
This of course fails and it aborts the whole operation.

It does not make any sense to me to be doing the chmod at all, but if they
insist they could do it only when running as root.

If anyone is interested in the details here is the thread:
