There is a bug in the Anti-Virus Update procedure now!

Erich,

I updated to 6.0.8 (on Mac OS X Server 10.3.8) last week. I just checked my admin console and it showed I was on virus def version 4436. I ran the manual update and received the 4437 version. Subsequent manual updates report "current version is up to date."

Without being able to reproduce the problem I can only guess at a possible solution. I know that the file "update.ver" stores the current version number of the defs file and the last update time. I am curious to see if that file contains 4437 or 4350. I am also curious to know the create date in your OS of the file "scan.dat."

If you post that info I may be able to proffer some ideas.

Cheers,
Lyle Millander

Ok,

the update.ver file tells Ver 4350 and date 1109709826

the time stamp of scan.dat is 8.apr.2004

If I were in your shoes, I would do the following:

(or just e-mail support<_at_>kerio.com since they know what they're doing)

From the admin console go to "Logs:debug"
Right-click in the log window and select "Set log events..."
Uncheck everything except "Antivirus check processing"
Go to "Configuration:Antivirus" and click the "Update now ..." button
After you get the "up to date" message return to "Logs:debug"
The important items in the log are:
{avir} Found antivir plugin avir_mcafee (McAfee Scanning Engine (4437/4.3.20)
{avir} Checking for McAfee antivirus update on nai-update.kerio.com...
{avir} Downloading file /nai-antivirus/datfiles/4.x/update2.ini from HTTP server nai-update.kerio.com...
{avir} McAfee antivirus engine and data files are up to date, no new version downloaded

Are you missing any of these items, or are there any errors? Are any errors showing up in the error or warning logs?

It looks like Kerio knows that it has 4350, but for some reason isn't able to compare that version with what's on the McAfee server. Perhaps the logs may offer a clue.

You could also just stop the server, remove the scan.dat file, start the server, and see if "update now" loads the newer file. I've never tried that, so do so at your own risk.

Sorry I can't give you a quick and easy fix - hopefully someone who's had this problem can chime in, just in case I'm barking up the wrong tree.

Cheers,
Lyle Millander

Why don´t you write this it in the log then !

It would be a lot easier to diagnostic if it happens to one with legal software.

Well, we do. But he used the crack which seriously damaged KMS, even displaying of warning messages. It's his fault, not ours.
