Our mail server used to run an anti-virus plugin, but the subscription is just too expensive to keep it up. Any server-based scanner conflicts with the mail delivery because it either deletes the attachment mid-process, causing the mail service to shut down with a critical failure, or simply locks the INBOX file completely.

If I upgrade WinRoute to include the McAfee plugin, will it scan incoming e-mail for infected attachments? If so, that will kill the virus before it even gets to the mail processor. What does the firewall DO with infected attachments?
