Because it's useless. It's the worst method I ever seen (right after greylisting).
1. You can't reply to some kind of e-mails (receipts, error notifications).
2. You will reply to non-existent users (fake From address) which will flood your SMTP queue.
3. It isn't possible to require confirmation from the sender. Credible companies wouldn't do this.
4. Two times more e-mails must be handled by the mailserver.

Do I take it that the spam protection will be better in 6.1 then???

If it ever arrives!!!

I am hoping to get a Beta when it goes public - any idea when that will be?

You can always add custom/3rd party SpamAssassin .cf rules to KMS to increase the spam filtering capabilities. Fetch some from the SARE project and toss them in $KMSDIR\spamassassin\rules. These will catch A LOT more spam.

I used to use this and found it quite effective. Unfortunately, KMS does not have the ability to quarantine severe spam (HINT HINT), so we've had to setup a postfix/spamassassin box ahead of our KMS box for spam filtering.

Boy, it'd sure be nice to have the ability to quarantine severe spam in 6.1 ;) ;)
