Have a problem with Outlook 2003. Have a client who uses outlook but cannot send emails from default account. Can send email from hotmail from within outlook but not default mail account. All the ports pop and smtp seem configured ok.

I have heard that outlook uses spurious ports above 5000. What should I do?

What type of Internet connection do you have? Is Outlook reporting a particular message when it fails to send the outgoing mail?

Outlook does not post any message, just forever is sending mail never completing task. Outlook reads a pst file on the server so I don't know if that is it, becuase sending mail on the server is ok, thats why I thought it was a winroute problem from client to server. But my rules allow any on the LAN. My broadband connection is connected to the server.

Also worth noting that if the message is small ie no text or attachments it goes fine. if it has any text in it over 1k then it doesn't go

????????

Is there any antivirus software on the same machine as Outlook? Does your broadband connection use any PPPOE software?
