I am not sure how many people have hundreds if not thousands of
attachment filtering rules to avoid MALWARE/VIRUS/SPAM exploits

then if you add a rule you need it goes to the bottom then you have to move it up the list to get it in the right spot which maybe 500 rules or so up the list.

for example I have the rules setup like so :
[x] *flag*.gif allow
[x] *logo*.gif allow
[ ] /\ low risk image files allowed

[ ] \/ expoloit porn image names not allowed
[x] picture*.jpg block
[ ] \/ domain name exploits virus exploits not allowed
[x] domain.com.* block

[ ] \/ allowed high risk attachments with specific naming converion in alpha order by attachment type
[x] report-stock(*/*).zip
[ ] attachment types blocked
[x] movie mimetype block
[x] *.pif block (hundreds of
[x] *.jpg block porn/offesive images e.g 1.jpg etc
[x] *.zip block

exploits/porn/malware/bandwidth theft)

[ ] \/ word exception to offensive attachments
[x] *accumulat*.* allow
[x] *aspermont*.* allow

[ ] \/ keys words to block that may contain offensive/legally questionable material/liabilty risks
[x] *adult*.* block
[x] *crack*.* block
[x] *cum*.* block
[x] *porn*.* block
[x] *sperm*.* block

this is just a small sample to our 900kb config file
my issue is i need to provide a safe and ethical work place
reduce the company liablity by being active in trying to stop/minmize offensive and illegal material going thru the mail server.
some days I have to add a number of new rules say 20 rules
to cater for new products image and the like while stopping porn and other unwanted images etc
at say 10-15ms per rule ....adding then moveing it to the right spot in the order to make it easy to find
worst case senario I would lose 4-5 hrs to get these added and positioned in there correct place.
Any one else having the same issue or found a better way to do it ?

when you add rules to the custom spam list in kerio admin they insert below the currectly selected line.

Perhaps you can suggest that Kerio make the attachment filter page function in the same way.

Let me know how this is received.

New to KMS and I read your post with the example of your "config" file. Where is that located and can I edit it through the Administration or just use Wordpad?

Thanks in advance

Hello
That is related to the attachment filter you can add rules now by where the cursor/line is highlighted.

See content filter/attachment filter

it works on a top/down order ... so exceptions have to be put above exclusions.

this is stored in the mailserver.cfg file but I normally just use the admin tool to add rules and group them with a untick one to act as a heading to have the sections. This works reasonablly well for attachments.
But you have to group your rules to suit your circumstances and priority ... also found if you can try to keep the list alphanumeric sequence within the groups it makes it easier to manage and fine a specific allow/deny rule.

Thanks for the information. I'll stick with the Admin console for now.
