Setup: Firewall/winroute server on a workgroup. Another server, which is on a separate domain handles DHCP and DNS. Most of the computers are on that domain. Using Winroute 6.0.0. Using a DSL Connection connected to a Lan Card in the computer (another lan card is installed to connect to the network).

Problem: Internet sharing was working a few days ago. All of a sudden, internet connection can no longer be shared. All computers will get the following message when they try to access the internet: "DNS lookup failed. Message created by winroute proxy." Only the firewall/winroute server is able to access the internet.

I've looked at the individual settings (gateway, etc.) on the other computers and they haven't changed.

Please help!!

Are the DNS settings for the DNS Forwarder in WinRoute ok? Check the DNS settings of the Lan card connecting to DSL. If the ISP has changes its DNS servers you should specify the new DNS servers. You can check the settings by typing 'ipconfig /all' in a command prompt window (dos box).

Try to ping the DNS servers of the ISP by using the ip address of the DNS server (ping <ip address>). If that works try to ping the DNS server by using the FQDN (ping <name of DNS server>. You can see if its name is resolved to an ip address or not.
