I have followed the advice on the knowledge base http://support.kerio.com/index.php?_a=knowledgebase&_j=r ate&_i=235&type=no on getting Office200 working with free/busy using the KOC.

I had this same problem some months ago with a 6.0.x product, and support was not able to get it working for me. So I held off on a server purchase until 6.1 came along so I could test this again to see if this would work for me.

Up to this point I am having nothing but bad luck with getting this going. Free/Busy works great from the web client, Entourage, and even Outlook 2003. In Outlook 2000 I get an error on not being able to load data from the url.

In a attempt to track this down, I ran tcpdump on the xserve looking at port 80 and 443 then tried to schedule a meeting in outlook2000:

xserveg5-1:~ root# tcpdump -s 1514 -X 'port http or port https'
tcpdump: verbose output suppressed, use -v or -vv for full protocol decode
listening on en0, link-type EN10MB (Ethernet), capture size 1514 bytes

^C
0 packets captured
376 packets received by filter
0 packets dropped by kernel

However, when I do the same thing on a Office 2k3 client I get this:

xserveg5-1:~ root# tcpdump 'port http or port https'
tcpdump: verbose output suppressed, use -v or -vv for full protocol decode
listening on en0, link-type EN10MB (Ethernet), capture size 1514 bytes

Both of these clients have the same settings.

As this is RC1, and I am not an existing customer, I don't think this is something I can bring up with support. But, if anyone here has any ideas on what this might be, and how I can fix it, that would be great!

Has anyone got Outlook 2000 working with Free/Busy and the KOC?

Thanks
Jim

I believe for Free/Busy to work in Office 2000 you need to install something extra from Microsoft (Web Publishing extension or something like that). You can find it in the Kerio Knowledgebase (look for Free busy or something similar).

This extra package is not needed on newer versions of Office...

Ow, I'm sorry, I overlooked that bit %-)

I also had some problems with free/busy and Office 2000. Upon chasing the issue I found out that it works a lot smoother in Office XP. In our business it was not a big deal to move some people over to Office XP, so I did. (I know this doesn't help you a lot, sorry...)

Yeh, going through the board that looks to be what most people have done.

Sadly, with the number of users I am dealing with it would be over 20k to upgrade everyone to Office2k3. At that price, I might as well go with Exchange and let users keep their existing clients.

Sadly, I have not found anyone that has Free/Busy working with Outlook 2000. I am wondering at this point why Outlook 2000 is even listed as being supported.

What throws me for a loop here is, this has to be a client issue. The client in no way attempts to pull down the free/busy information from the server, it just errors out right away. I know the server is working, as Outlook2k3 handles this fine.

As well, there is very little options to change on the client side. I have tried pointing it to http and https, tried the IP address and host-name, etc. I tried the few things I could change. Plus, if I pull up the locations in a webbrowser from the client, it downloads a ics file with no problem. So the client can talk to the server.

Should Outlook 2k even be listed as supported?

Good news is now that this is -rel I can open a trouble ticket on this and see if support can help me out with this.
