Does anyone know what ldap query string might work with this t-bird extension to automatically populate the address book?

Thanks,

Wow! That is realllly close to what I was going to write for Thunderbird - now if it only worked for our purposes! ;-)
The reason it does not work is because of an issue with KMSs LDAP server.
The only query that will return something is the regexp for the beginning of a contact name e.g. ^string to search for.*

but the way that Thunderbird queries by default is *string to search for.*

So this contact sidebar extension is a neat idea, but no matter what you set your prefix to, (we'll use ^ as an example), it show up on the log like *.^string to search for.* which returns nothing. And that prefix that you put in would only return all contacts for the ldap server, not fix regular queries. Acquiring all contacts from the KMS LDAP server will not work until * searches work.

I do not believe there is a way for this to work, currently. Sorry :-(

Actually, I sent the same question to the developer of this extension. One of the things he asked me was if the query worked when using the Contacts Sidebar in a Compose new message window. It does! So, something is different about the way his query is coded between the two parts of this extension...it doesn't work in the main TB window but it DOES work in a new message window.

I'll forward your response to him and see if that helps him.

Thanks.
Eric
