We deployed 6.1 yesterday morning. Everything seemed to go smoothly with the KOC upgrade. Today, we're getting several reports of the following error from Outlook 2000 clients:

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library

Runtime Error!

Program: ...gram Files\Common Files\System\MAPI\1033\nt\MAPISP32.EXE

R6025
- pure virtual function call

At this point, MAPISP32.EXE crashes and Outlook will not send any messages. They just sit in the outbox. If the Outlook.exe process is killed via the task manager, and Outlook is restarted, 1 or 2 messages in the outbox will send, then the same crash occurs and messages sit in the outbox again.

Reinstalling Office 2000 on these machines seems to help in most cases, but we still have 2 computers where MAPISP32.EXE crashes and will not send mail. It's occurred on a mix of Win2000 and WinXP machines.

This did not occur on any of our test machines before we went live with the upgrade. Has anyone experienced anything similar or have a fix?

Scott:

Deinstall KOC (and remove the directory C:\Program Files\Kerio\Outlook Connector) then reinstall.

If that still does not fix it, turn on KOC debugging as described here: http://support.kerio.com/kb/261

Then try it again, wait until it crashes, and send KOC debug log to us via a support ticket.

Thanks,
Joshua

Scott,

Has this problem been resolved now??? This is a worrying issue for those using Outlook 2000.

Not yet. On 6 of 9 machines, uninstalling / reinstalling Office2000 and KOC fixed the problem. On the remaining 3 machines, it seems to be happening sporadically. I'm going to enable debuging now. Hopefully that will shed some light on things. Unfortunately, it is now sporadic on the machines it is still happening to. That'll make it much more difficult to reproduce. :(

Joshua,

Do you recommend a value of 1 or 2 for this type of debugging? Would support only like to see the errors, or all the transactions?

Thanks,

Scott

This is happening to me too. I submitted a bug report, and it seems to only happen on a few select machines. Any fixes yet?

Other that a complete uninstall/reinstall of Office2000 and KOC, nothing yet. I've enabled the debug logging on the problem machines, now I'm just waiting for one of them to bomb again.

Anyone having this bug: After Outlook crashes, please get the user's Outbox email folder and send it to us, compressed.

Typical path is "C:\Program Files\Kerio\Mailserver\store\mail\[domain]\[user]\Outbox"

Append it to a current ticket you have. If you create a new one, please put "bug 10611" in the subject.

Thanks.

Hi All,

Is there a fix for this bug yet - this is a pretty major one for those with OL2k

We get this error frequently, not just sending mail but frequently when we are just moving/copying mail around or importing/exporting mail to PST's

I really don't want to have to re-install office entirely & have re-installed (&deleted) the KOC but this does not fix the problem.

There is no issue with OL2003

HELP!!!

The bad news is I'm finding the complete reinstall of Office2000 didn't completely get rid of the problem. Now it's intermittent. It'll happen once, restart Outlook and it doesn't happen again sometimes until the next day. Now it's an 'occasional' problem instead of a persistent one, so it's even harder to catch and debug.

Anything I/we can do to help???

This bug is a real pain - Users are crashing all over the place.!

Any idea of a timescale? - I'll volunteer to test the fix ASAP (assuming it will be a patch rather than a new build already??)
