I have kerio 6.0.10 hosted on a Windows 2003 web edition server. We have an e-mail gateway for spam / anti-virus that all incoming and outoging mail passes through.

The mail gateway uses the Microsoft IIS/SMTP service. When I look in the Kerio warning log, I see entries similar to this:

SMTP server connection from lost: (10060) A connection attempt failed because the connected party did not properly respond after a period of time, or established connection failed because connected host has failed to respond.

In the log for the gateway machine, I get errors like this:

Message delivery to the host '' failed while delivering to the remote domain 'MRPCAP.COM' for the following reason: The connection was dropped by the remote host.

On the surface, it looks like Kerio is just being impatient, and not waiting long enough for IIS/SMTp to respond or send data.

How best to solve this problem?

Good is better than evil because it's nicer
