I have a few webmail filters set up to send mail to subfolders underneath the INBOX. For instance if I get an email with microsoft.com in the sender's address then the filter automatically puts it in the INBOX\Microsoft folder. That works great. However if I then fire up Outlook to get my mail, all of the mail that got filtered into the subfolders is no longer available on the pop3 service. What happened to it? The messages that are still sitting in the INBOX folder I can receive in Outlook. What can I do to make those messages in the subfolders available to be received over pop3?

POP3 only looks at the inbox. It can't see the other folders. If you want to filter mail using POP3, you have to set up Outlook rules to filter it after it's downloaded.

Ah I see. I didn't know that "INBOX" was the magic word. So that's how pop3 works then. Bummer. Thanks for the reply, I'll try and work around it.

You could use IMAP instead of POP3. IMAP leaves all mail on the server and is capable of 'seeing' all mailfolders.

But before you do this, make sure you understand how IMAP works. It is in some ways very different from POP3...
