I would like the option to have mail going to an unknown user (one that doesnt exist) to be forwarded to my account. Currently, if you add an alias to *<_at_>domain.com everything gets redirected to you.

Not on my system. An alias of * only handles addresses that don't match any other addresses/aliases. You should contact support, because something is wrong if that is redirecting every message to you.

I just tried it again, it seems to be working. It must have been another setting that caused that. Weird though.

If you use the * wildcard to catch undeliverable mail, do the senders of incorrect mail still get a 'user unknown' mail bounced back?

No. This functions as a catch-all address. Everything gets delivered, so there are no bounces. That's why I can't use it. I tried it on a few occasions, but we still get tons of mail for users who don't work here anymore.

Ah, ok. In our previous mail system undeliverable mail would get sent to the postmaster account AND be bounced back.

Well, I won't use it then. Saves me the trouble of forwarding all misspelled mail. Good! :)
