Hi,
I'm using thunderbird as pop/imap client.
Trying to use an extention to display the mailbox quota of this client, i was surprise that it does not work.
This extention is using GETQUOTA imap command, trying this command through telnet i have the following message (login with my own credential)
? getquota "INBOX"
? NO GETQUOTA Permission denied
? getquota
? NO GETQUOTA Permission denied

Is it normal ? if no what is the solution ?

Thanks for your feedback.

Regards

Yes, it is supported. However, it is not possible to set quota for certain IMAP folders. The quota can be set only for entire mail account (number of messages or total size).

The GETQUOTA command has a quota root as an argument, not folder name. First, you need to retrieve quota root with command GETQUOTAROOT "INBOX". Then you can use GETQUOTA.

Example:
* OK IMAP4rev1 server ready
a login user password
a OK LOGIN completed
a getquotaroot "inbox"
* QUOTAROOT "inbox" "user<_at_>domain.com"
* QUOTA "user<_at_>domain.com" (MESSAGE 0 10)
a OK GETQUOTAROOT completed
a getquota "user<_at_>domain.com"
* QUOTA "user<_at_>domain.com" (MESSAGE 0 10)
a OK GETQUOTA completed
a logout
* BYE logging out
a OK LOGOUT completed

For more details see RFC 2087.
